Mumbai Anti-Trafficking Initiative
MUMBAI ANTI-TRAFFICKING INITIATIVE
Mumbai, one of the world’s bustling metropolises, is India’s financial capital and home to Bollywood. Unfortunately, Mumbai has nine red-light districts where trafficked women are traded each day. Beyond the red light districts, the growing trends are for women to be sold on messaging platforms, and smaller hotels (colloquially called lodges) used where trafficked women are sold to men.
Our work begins with the surveillance and mapping of red-light districts. Through a network of informants, our dedicated rescue staff plans and executes rescue operations with the help of local law enforcement. Following the rescue, women, girls, and children are brought to our safehouses for long-term psychosocial care.
Our partnerships with local governments and the justice system often make us the preferred aftercare facility in Mumbai
